Leg Warmers!

I finished up the leg warmers for my friend's daughter.

I'm so excited to send these off to her!

I love these colorful rainbow types

The cabled leg warmers are going to be soo cute!

And these sparkly striped ones are going to look great pulled up or slouched!

Learning New Things and New Pretties

I wanted to share a few new things I learned how to do with making the leg warmers.

First I learned a new STRETCHY bind off! I'm so glad to know this technique because it will greatly help with my arm warmers!  It allows the ends to stretch a lot more and feel more comfortable.

I also learned how to make an icord - a simple stretchy cord that can be used to make bows, added for decoration or used to hold up those leg warmers!

Awhile ago my mom bought me these CUTE stitch markers.  I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but got great use with them on the last leg warmers I worked on!  I of course had to use the green one!!  You can buy your own sets from Jeds Joy's Etsy Shop

Friday I'm in love - Dancing

I was inspired today when I was in my car during lunch.  I was listening to Jimmy Eat World "The Middle" and started dancing in my car (yes I am one of those girls who dances in my car!) I was thinking about how silly I must look, but really I didn't care, because I just love to dance!

So this Friday, I'm in love with dancing!!!

I think my love for dancing came from watching Dirty Dancing over and over and over again at a young age!

There is something about dancing in the rain that makes you feel free

I love getting to dance with friends, even when there isn't any music around

I think everyone has a part of them that wants to break out and dance

So I'll leave you with this.... Fast forward by 17 seconds and LETS DANCE!

Adjustments

I discovered last night a little error in my design for the cabled legwarmers.  They "shrink" in length when you put them on because they stretch wider.  This was an interesting find, so I had to start over.  I made a few more changes in the pattern that made it easier to finish off.

I had a visitor while we were doing the picture taking...

Now to let the hands rest for awhile!!

Friday I'm in Love - Ice Cream!

It has been SUPER Crazy HOT here in Texas!

If you live here, then you know what I mean about highs of 103 but heat index of 1,000!

I think this must be influencing my new obsession with ice cream this week!

Getting Lots Done

I wanted to post some picture of a few of the projects I'm working on. 

My friend asked me to make some legwarmers for her little girl and I was very excited to get started!

I made these very colorful ones

I also got started on these.

I LOVE cables!!

I found the inspiration from  neonsilika.

I used her pattern to give me some ideas and made some changes to make it my own.  I can't wait to finish the other leg on this pattern, but first need to make sure it fits right! Thank goodness my daughter's legs are about the same size.  Only thing with using my daughter as a tester is I have to always promise to make her some too...

I also have plans to make another pair with this fun yarn combo! 

Its going to be AWESOME!!!

I've also been S L O W L Y working more on my daughter's hexagon blanket.

I've got tons of the colored centers and I'm trying to piece them together.

I now have 5 rows done.

I'll keep you updated as I go!

Friday I'm in Love -- School's Out!

I know most of the world is getting ready for school to start in the next few weeks, but for me its a different story.  Today I am officially done with Graduate School!

No more writing papers

Or taking lots of notes and studying

It's Officially Over!!!

It has been a long 3 year journey, but I am so glad I did it.  

I know it's going to give more opportunities and a brighter future!  

(My future is so bright, I've gotta wear shades.. hee hee)

Finishing Up Some Projects!

I have been trying to get myself caught up on some projects and have finally finished a few!!

Here are some I just finished up from Craft Academy 

I made this way cute place mat for my supervisor at my internship!

She likes to have picnic lunches with the kids she works with, so I thought this was the perfect gift to thank her for all she has done for me.  

Look at those straight lines and that CUTE pocket for the utensils!

I also decided to retry the water bottle carrier and it turned out just right!

See, the bottle actually fits in this time!!!

I also finally finished this scarf for my friend Alan.  

 

He wanted a scarf that looked like Dominic Deegan's for all the comic cons he is attending and just because he likes that character!  

I think it turned out pretty good! Now to wait for the Texas heat to go away so he can really enjoy it!!!

I crocheted these cute coffee sleeves this week!!

I'm planning to add these to my shop when I get it open!

This cute one has a button on it with two button holes so you can adjust it for mugs that are a little larger or smaller.

This one is so double rainbow!!

This sweet one is kind of like cotton candy goodness to wrap around your hot cup of jo!

Friday I'm in Love - Coffee!!

I really love coffee!

I look forward to having a cup in the morning. 

Not only does it give me a little wake up juice, but it gives me a sense of happiness

I love being able to share a cup with a friend and getting to just relax and enjoy our time together.

I'll admit, when Starbucks had their half-price frappuccinos, 

I went a little crazy and got them all the time!

But its not just the coffee, its the whole experience! 

Like the endless options of CUTE mugs!

Blog Changes and New Name!

Hey everyone!!!  I'm sure you have noticed the changes to the blog and even the name change.

What is up with all the changes??

Well, I'll share!!! One of my personal goals for me is to eventually have my own little etsy shop.  I've had more and more friends ask me to make things for them and now even people I don't know are asking me to make them things! It has gotten my brain going on what I want to do and what I want for my shop.  

I had come up with the name Geek Inspired, cause lets face it, I'm a Geek through and through!!!  I thought as I'm getting myself ready for my etsy shop, I can make my blog match up.  I think Geek Inspired fits me and what I do better.  

Let me know what you think! I'd love to get feedback and if you have any great tips to share with a newbie like myself, please pass them on!
