Craft Academy - Water Bottle Carrier

I finished up my water bottle carrier today!
This project was another cute one from Craft Academy

They are starting up a Fall class soon and I am super excited to participate in these next classes! I highly recommend joining in!

While the carrier didn't turn out perfect, I am really proud of it!
I learned how to make a french seam!
I used a fun fabric for the lining.

With all the steps I had to use I got more comfortable with my sewing machine and now I am able to thread the bobbin with no problems!

So I actually measured the fabric for the water bottle with the blue lid on the left.
I guess I have to learn how to make better seam allowances! Oh well, at least this little bottle fits!

I'm looking forward to using this when I go to the park with the kids or even at ACL this year!

Adventures in Sewing

I had today off so I thought I would get some sewing projects out of the way while I had the chance!

I have been wanting to make a double pointed needle holder for a friend for awhile and kept putting it off, but felt today was the day!

However I ran into some snags along the way.
I tried to put new thread on my bobbin and ended up with a knotted mess.  I apparently forgot to put the thread holder on to keep the tension going so it made a mess.

Then when I was cutting my material with my new cool rotary cutter, I wasn't looking at how close I was to the ruler and accidentially tried to cut the ruler. Now my new blade is dead, so I had to finish cutting the fabric out by hand. bummers.

Then when I got to sewing my machine ate my fabric!! Really, it just sucked it in and ate a piece!!!

Somehow I was able to get everything back to working order and made an awesome needle holder!!

Friday I'm In Love

I haven't been able to do much crafty things lately because of grad school =(
(Did you know it's almost over??? Just 2 more class periods, midterm, final and 6 days at my internship to be exact!)

And because I haven't been able to crafty, I haven't had any exciting things to post on my blog!!!
So I wanted to fix this and decided on a new feature -- Friday, I'm in love!

I know, you are already singing the song, so here it is, enjoy!

Ah, the Cure....

I thought maybe on Fridays I could share some things that I love!

I love the color GREEN!
You may have notice the change in the blog and that now its mostly green =)
I wasn't intending on changing my blog, but I'm happy with the results

I need to figure out how to make these

Enjoy some green pictures and have a great Friday!!

I may have to get those green shoes!!

Too Cute Tuesday

Several of us are convinced that my daughter has the natural crafty ability.
She is only 6 and already does some pretty impressive stuff!
I thought I would feature her on Tuesdays aka Too Cute Tuesdays.
My walls are lined with the things she makes, so I might as well share them!!

This was a princess she made a few months ago when she was still 5

She took the face from one of her coloring books and cut it out and then added the body from paper.

She then took the scraps from pictures I had cut out for another project to decorate her princess.

I guess this is her version of upcycling!

Clipboard Makeover

I have the MOST awesome supervisor for my internship.
I have been so blessed to be with her and get a chance to soak in all her great knowledge!

She is also super creative and makes tons of cute signs for her kids to hang up and gets creative in all aspects of her job.  We click so well in this area, if you could imagine!!! I love thinking outside of the box.

So you can imagine how sad I was when I saw she had BORING plain clipboards!!

Remember the clipboard I made for my daughter's teacher?  Well I decided to makeover the ugly clipboards for my supervisor!!  I took them from her office last week and left a note that I would "return" them this week!

Here is what we got!!!!

She loved them! YEAH!

I sewed a bag!!!!

I am really loving Craft Academy!!!!!
They give great instructions and ideas on how to make a project more personal and fit your style.
I am very excited to learn more sewing!!!
I hate that I have had this sewing machine for years and NEVER used it!!
But look what I made!!!!

Look how the drawstring pulls together!!
My daughter has already taken it and is using it for carrying her Barbies!

Brag Book

I turned my 2nd project for Craft Academy into a brag book for my mom!

It was a lot of fun putting it together and SUPER easy!!
The pictures aren't that great because of the contact paper protecting them, but you get the idea.
I'm not posting all the pics because most of them are of my kids and in case my mom is reading this, I want her to be surprised!!!!

Here is the first one I made with felt and a picture my daughter drew
