My Week in Pictures - Week 8

I can hardly believe we only have one more week left in JUNE!!!
CRAZY!
This week was busy and I somehow didn't stop to take pictures!
I still found some good ones to share though :)

In my weight loss journey I have now lost 15 pounds!
WOOOOOO

My son was having a lot of fun with this bubble blower!

My kids went to their grandparents this weekend and got to do a lot of fun things with them.
Kira tested out her new sewing machine she got for her Birthday.
She already has a list of things to make with it!!
I'm aiming for those projects with straight lines like pillows!

My son helped refurbish this doll house.
It was my sister-in-laws and then her daughter used it.
I thought I could use it at work with my kids!
So excited and can't wait for my work kids to hear that my son helped!

Kira got baptized this Sunday!
I love that my husband has gotten to baptize both of our kids.

CRAFTING!!!!!
I'm making some fingerless gloves for our cutie neighbor girls!
They are always borrowing Kira's when they play rockstar so I need to get them their own pair for when they are rockstars at home!!
I've been knitting away on this blanket and getting caught up on Grey's on the hubby's fancy Kindle Fire.
AND I think I've decided what to make with these bright colored grannies!!
My little sister pointed out that she liked the colors when she saw them, so I thought I'd make something for her!
I'll let you know what I make after its done!
Just in case it doesn't turn out right!!!!

Need some grannies?

About a year ago I saw a post for a granny square swap. The idea was to make 6 squares for a different person each week and then in the end you would have enough for your own blanket.   I got super excited about this project and got right to work on my squares.
Well somehow I missed some of the information and I never got into the actual swap.
Now I have these 4 sets of granny squares...

I had some suggestions from instagram friends to make more for a blanket or for a pillow...
But I'm really wanting to have my own granny square swap...
What do you think???
Would you be interested in swapping?

Flower Granny Square Blanket

I wanted to share the newest blanket I made!
Here it is all folded up!
There are 36 squares all together - 18 with flowers and 18 in aqua.
It measures about 31inches X 31 inches, so it's the perfect baby blanket.

This is an up close picture of the flower squares.

I also used a border from my around the corner crochet borders book.  I LOVE this book! It is very helpful for making pretty blankets!

I'll post more pictures later - it is not good picture taking weather right now :(

Of course I'll be adding this blanket to my Etsy Shop soon!

Happy Granny Blanket is Done!!

I am SO happy with how this blanket turned out!!!!
It really is a happy blanket!

I used a turquoise color to join the squares together and used a tutorial from Attic 24 for doing it.

I also got to use the book I got myself for Christmas for the border! I used #46 in case you wanted to know :)
I'll be adding this blanket soon to my Etsy Shop if you are interested in making it your own happy granny blanket!!

New Granny Square Project

I love Pinterest!  It has become the latest obsession for many of my friends, including myself!
One thing I really like about it is being able to pin all my inspirations into different categories.  I created a blanket board of the different blankets I've seen and would like to make in the future.  I noticed I was pinning a lot of granny squared blankets that used bright colors.  So my newest Granny Square Project is going to be a bright and happy blanket!
Here are the squares I've made so far.

I'm using yarn from my stash and hoping to not have to buy too much extra!  I love how the squares look different based on the colors used!
When completed I'll be adding this lovely blanket to my shop!
I'm estimating now that it will be about 48-52 inches wide and 42-48 inches long.
I will keep posting updates of the progress!

What have you been pinning on pinterest? You should try it out if you haven't already!

Beautiful Blogger Blanket

I recently discovered Jill's Knitting and Crochet Blog - Stocki.  She has some wonderful projects that she is working on that caught my eye!
Jill is hosting the Beautiful Blogger Blanket!  I am so excited about this! Basically she is asking for people to send in crocheted granny squares in any pattern or color and she will put them together into a blanket! Then those who participated have a chance to win the blanket! How cool is that???  The more squares you make, the more chances you have to win!

One of the rules was to use 100% cotton for the yarn, so I picked 3 colors from I Love this Cotton - Rosey, Sage and Mullberry.  I found four different patterns to use and here is what I came up with!
I was inspired for this square from Craftyminz's blog.  She was doing a granny a day last year and made some fabulous ones! The Pattern was found on Ravelry.

I started with the pattern from Red Heart for this square but didn't like where it was going so I just stopped here and thought it looked pretty enough on its own!

I loved how simple this pattern was!

This little square is my favorite! I know with my instagram it's hard to tell, but the flower is crocheted on top of the square so it pops right out! It soooo pretty!!!  I discovered this pattern on one of my many stalkings through pinterest.

I would love if some of my crochet friends got involved in this project! Head over to Jill's blog and get the scoop!!! I'll let you know if I win ;)

Nanny Granny

Finally I made a granny square blanket for my mother-in-law, aka Nanny
(The colors are actually grey and a bright teal blue but with my instagram pics they come out looking different!)

I love how simple this one is and yet it still looks awesome!
I made 4 giant granny squares and just joined them together.

For all of the blankets I made I used my favorite yarn from Hobby Lobby - I Love This Yarn!  The yarn is super soft and comes in amazing colors! It really makes finding great color combinations easy.

And here are some of the pics from the crocheting process:

Lucy's Granny Square Blanket

The blanket I made for my sister-in-law Lucy gave me a new challenge - reading a pattern from just a chart.  Plus this chart was written in Japanese!  Ya, it was hard but I love great challenges!
Here is the pattern from Ravelry if you are interested!

This turned into a rather large blanket of 143 squares, but it's perfect for my SIL and niece snuggle under!

Here are some of the grannies before they were edged and sewn together

And the border up close

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
I have been busy making presents for my family so I haven't been able to post my projects here! But here is glimpse at the three blankets I crocheted for my motherinlaw and sisterinlaws.

I'll post more about each one soon with more pics!  Plus I made a few more gifts too!!
I hope you all are having a great Christmas!!

Finally finished!!!

I finally finished my granny circle blanket!!
I am super super super excited to be done!

I was inspired by Bunny Mummy for my border

She had a great tutorial for the edging too and I thought it was super easy to do

And it looks GREAT on my new couch!!!

I'm so glad to get this blanket done!

Finished? Not really..

So I have put together all the circles I made resulting in this beautiful blanket
only bad part is that it only measures to about 3 foot by 3 foot!!! So it't not as big as I would like!
But the awesome thing about granny squares is that is is super easy to just make more squares and add on!

So I'm going to make a row at a time and see where I end!
