New Embroidery Hoop Wall Art

Two Sundays ago I got inspiration for a new project!
I got it from the cutest little outfit on my friend's baby girl!!
She had this cute yellow and white dress with a pink crocheted flower on it.
I loved how simple it was and also very fun at the same time!

I thought it might be the perfect combo for a new Embroidery Hoop Wall Art!
I used a two layered flower that was easy to crochet.
I loved this yellow chevron fabric that I got from Fabric Shoppe

I am planning on making some other ones - maybe trying different types of fabrics, flowers and changing the sizes too.
What do you think? I'd love some feedback on it!!
I already have it in my Etsy Shop if you want to make it yours!

Flower Granny Square Blanket

I wanted to share the newest blanket I made!
Here it is all folded up!
There are 36 squares all together - 18 with flowers and 18 in aqua.
It measures about 31inches X 31 inches, so it's the perfect baby blanket.

This is an up close picture of the flower squares.

I also used a border from my around the corner crochet borders book.  I LOVE this book! It is very helpful for making pretty blankets!

I'll post more pictures later - it is not good picture taking weather right now :(

Of course I'll be adding this blanket to my Etsy Shop soon!

There's Nothing We Can't Face

I just finished another geeky hoop!!!
In case you don't live in this same geeky bubble that I live in, this is a reference to the ever AWESOME Buffy Musical Episode - Once More With Feeling.

Seriously, check out this episode!
I'll be adding those hoop to my Etsy shop soon!!!
Let me know what you think!
Any other geeky area that needs to be captured on an embroidery hoop?

Spring Goodies

Last week I made some cute spring inspired coasters!!
I LOVE how these turned out! They were easy to make while relaxing this week.

I made coasters in Red & Aqua, Pink & Lime Green and Blue & Orange
I also had to make some coffee cozies to match!

These are already available on my etsy shop if you want some for yourself!  I think I need to make a coffee cozy just for me!

Geeky Hoops - BSG

I added a new Geeky Hoop to my collection!!

I love the play on words!!
This is a reference to Battle Star Galatica.
Some of the characters would call the Cylons (aka robot evil) toasters and would express their hate with the phrase "frakkin toasters."

My Geeky Hoops have been pretty popular in my etsy shop and have already sold 2 of my TARDIS!
Are there other geeky references you want me to capture?
I'm still working on the perfect Buffy one! So many things to choose from!!

Happy Granny Blanket is Done!!

I am SO happy with how this blanket turned out!!!!
It really is a happy blanket!

I used a turquoise color to join the squares together and used a tutorial from Attic 24 for doing it.

I also got to use the book I got myself for Christmas for the border! I used #46 in case you wanted to know :)
I'll be adding this blanket soon to my Etsy Shop if you are interested in making it your own happy granny blanket!!

Granny square update

I've crocheted 39 Granny Squares so far!!!

Stack of 39 all together
Here are some of the newest ones I have completed:
feeling productive and finished 8 in one day

I've got 17 more to go and then I can start putting them together! I'm going back and forth on 2 different options for finishing them.  I'm sure I'll have my mind made up soon!!

Geeky Hoops

I feel like I have crafty-ADD where I can't stay with one project or type of craft for too long! I am in the middle of a big granny square blanket, so I wanted to have something else to work on for moments with the crafty-ADD kicks in!  I have tried some embroidery before and have enjoyed doing it.  I thought I could combine some of my geekiness into an embroidery hoop and here are the results so far:

I started with my biggest geeky addiction - Firefly!

My newest geek love - Doctor Who

And my other geeky Dr - Dr Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory

These geeky hoops have been fun to make!  I've had some challenges - like not getting the tracing paper to work or having the tracing pen ink not come out! I used a tutorial I saw my friend Marci post on pinterest for finishing a hoop by gathering the fabric in the back.  This method looks much better than previous methods I've tried - I wish I had taken pictures to prove it!

These Geeky Hoops are added to my Etsy Shop! I'll be making more as I go along and geeky ideas come to me.

New Granny Square Project

I love Pinterest!  It has become the latest obsession for many of my friends, including myself!
One thing I really like about it is being able to pin all my inspirations into different categories.  I created a blanket board of the different blankets I've seen and would like to make in the future.  I noticed I was pinning a lot of granny squared blankets that used bright colors.  So my newest Granny Square Project is going to be a bright and happy blanket!
Here are the squares I've made so far.

I'm using yarn from my stash and hoping to not have to buy too much extra!  I love how the squares look different based on the colors used!
When completed I'll be adding this lovely blanket to my shop!
I'm estimating now that it will be about 48-52 inches wide and 42-48 inches long.
I will keep posting updates of the progress!

What have you been pinning on pinterest? You should try it out if you haven't already!

I heart fingerless gloves!

I have been planning some new projects for my Etsy shop and decided this weekend was a great time to test one of them out.  Thankfully I have the sweetest little girl who loves for me to make things for her!

Here are my I heart fingerless gloves!
These are in purple with a light pink flower on top.

As you can tell, she LOVES them!
My daughter was so excited to wear them to school today!

I'm working on more this week and trying to finish up my ripple blanket too!
What do you think of them? Any color suggestions you have? I love feedback, so please send it!!

Valentine's Day Cards

I decided this year that I wanted to have hand made cards for the kids for their Valentine's Cards.  The kids loved the idea so I had to get started right away, especially since I needed 42 of them made!!!

I started with some crocheted hearts.  Here is a sample of some the ones we are going to use.
We've got some sparkly ones, tied dyed ones, pink, hot pink and purple to name a few!

We made our cards on card stock, cut them out and attached the heart on one side.
And here is the other side where the kids will write in the names!
I think they are pretty cute!

I even included a set of them in my etsy shop if you want to get your own! If you need different colors or more than are in the listing, just let me know! I was able to make these pretty fast!

Ripple blanket

Last week I decided I wanted to learn how to crochet a ripple blanket aka chevron blanket. I'm thankful for attic 24's wonderfully easy tutorials because she made it easy to learn!!

The blanket is coming along really well!! I love how the colors look together. Now I just have to decide how big to make it!!

I'll be including this blanket into my etsy shop when done! I love making blankets, so let me know if you need a custom project!
