Halloween craftiness

We had another crafty Halloween!

Kira and I went as Unicorns!

I was a more of a My Little Pony Unicorn and Kira was Lady Rainicorn from Adventure Time

For Kira's Costume I sewed the dress on my own.

Now I'm really excited about this because I made her dress WITHOUT a pattern!!!

Now there were some small messups along the way - like not making the neck big enough for her to put her head through!! But we were able to make some adjustments and it was perfect!

I also crocheted her unicorn horn and attached it to a crocheted headband.

Now I found a fun pattern for a unicorn hat that I wanted to use for my costume.

But, it didn't work out so great...

Even Kira agreed it was a pattern fail!!!!

But I was able to use some of the information from the pattern and come up with this awesome unicorn hat.

I really liked being able to tell people that I made it all on my own!!

Homemade Halloween costumes are for sure the best!!

All Finished!

I finished up the custom Ripple Blanket last week!

It turned out so pretty!!

I'll be sending it out today and hope its new owner loves it as much as I do!!

Custom Order

I am so excited about my first custom order from my Etsy Shop!

This will be a crocheted ripple blanket 40X60 in Navy, Light Blue and Ivory.  I'm very excited about this project and have been hard at work.  My goal is to have it completed in 4-6 weeks (I'm almost done with week 1!)

I'll be posting updates along the way and would love to know what you think!

Passing on the Craft

I love that my daughter shares my love for crafting.

She has always been a creative girl and I'm glad that she is wanting to learn how to crochet.

Of course she was also inspired when she saw that Becky's boy Eli was also crocheting friendship bracelets and was eager to start right away!

Kira has been a fast learner and took off with her chain stitches!

She made a bunch of friendship bracelets for her Girl Scout buds and for her pen pal Eli

Her first "project" was an armwarmer for her puppy!!!

Now she is trying her hand at sewing!!!!!

The world of crafting is wide open for her and I hope to encourage her in this area.

The world will be much happier with more crafty kids!

Cutest Gifts are Hand-Made!

My bestest girly friend had her Birthday this week and I wanted to make her something special.

I follow Annie on instagram and she posted some cute pictures of a sun glasses case she made from Lulu Loves's pattern.  I thought this was the perfect idea for my besty!

Here it is!!!!

This was a fun and quick pattern.

I used some of the yarn I got for mother's day and love how it looks together.

Hand-Made gifts really do make the best gifts!

She loved it and I am so glad to have made it for her.

My Week in Pictures - Week 8

I can hardly believe we only have one more week left in JUNE!!!

CRAZY!

This week was busy and I somehow didn't stop to take pictures!

I still found some good ones to share though :)

In my weight loss journey I have now lost 15 pounds!

My son was having a lot of fun with this bubble blower!

My kids went to their grandparents this weekend and got to do a lot of fun things with them.

Kira tested out her new sewing machine she got for her Birthday.

She already has a list of things to make with it!!

I'm aiming for those projects with straight lines like pillows!

My son helped refurbish this doll house.

It was my sister-in-laws and then her daughter used it.

I thought I could use it at work with my kids!

So excited and can't wait for my work kids to hear that my son helped!

Kira got baptized this Sunday!

I love that my husband has gotten to baptize both of our kids.

CRAFTING!!!!!

I'm making some fingerless gloves for our cutie neighbor girls! 

They are always borrowing Kira's when they play rockstar so I need to get them their own pair for when they are rockstars at home!!

I've been knitting away on this blanket and getting caught up on Grey's on the hubby's fancy Kindle Fire.

AND I think I've decided what to make with these bright colored grannies!!

My little sister pointed out that she liked the colors when she saw them, so I thought I'd make something for her!

I'll let you know what I make after its done!

Just in case it doesn't turn out right!!!!

Bow ties ARE cool

Sunday was Father's Day and we celebrated it at church by having a Bad Tie Day.

I of course had to make sure that everyone would have a tie to wear that day and got busy crocheting some ties from my scraps of yarn.

These were some of the ones I made.

I wore the blue sparkly one that morning :)

Of course we had to get a group shot of everyone sporting their bad ties!!

This might be the only day that you will find this many people in our church all dressed up at one time.

Special Bear for a Special Friend

I LOVE the internets!!!!

One of the best thing about the internet is making friends through all the cool blogs, Instagram, twitter...

Well, one of the interweb friends I have made is Becky and I love following all her fun pictures on Instagram.

She has the cutest step-son Eli that is the same age as my daughter Kira and they have ended up becoming friends too - I'll have to share more about that!

Well Eli's Birthday was last month and Kira and I wanted to send him something special for his Birthday

I thought first of a party hat...

And then decided that a bear needs a party hat!!!

He turned out extra cute!!!!!!

Kira helped me decorate the shipping box too!!!

Becky let us know that Eli loved his bear :) YEAH!

I love being able to get Kira excited about making things for people, even when we haven't met them in person.  Also it helps get the an appreciation for the old fashion snail mail!! Who doesn't love getting real mail???

Another Unicorn!

I made another amigurumi from my book - the shy little unicorn!

I used my new yarn too and was so excited to use all the bright colors!!

She turned out so cute! 

Both my kids like to play with her.

Kira gave her a crown and made her queen of all ponies!

I love her pretty hair!!!!

Best present!

For Mother's Day my husband bought me the best present - two amigurumi crochet books:

Amigurimi World and Amigurumi Toy Box

These are the cutest books with the cutest ideas ever! I think I squealed out loud at some of the pictures and couldn't WAIT to make them!!

I've made 4 already from the books and I wanted to share them with you!

I fell in love with the bear and wanted to make it right away for me!

I used some left over "mermaid" colored yarn I had from another project.

He fits perfectly in my purse and loves going on adventures.

I then let my kids pick out something they wanted me to make them.

My son picked this duck with a bear hat and named him Gunther.

My daughter wanted me to make her everything in the books!!!

She finally settled on this duck and named her Sophia.

She has also requested that I make a bear and kitty hat for her!!!

Finally I made this polar bear!

I love that the patterns come with hats for the animals!

This pom pom hat made this polar bear EXTRA Cute!!

I can't wait to make more of them!!

My mom gave me a gift certificate for mother's day and I got 17 new yarn colors!!!

Unicorn Request

One thing I really love doing is making things for my family and friends!

On Easter my cousin was showing our Granny a Crocheted Unicorn that she thought was cute.

Granny told my Mother-in-law and then the word got to me.

I knew I needed to make her a Unicorn!!

I really wanted to try to make one without a pattern and see if I could make it work.

I used different pictures on the internet to help me get some inspiration and to give me some idea on how to structure the project.

It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and I had a lot of fun trying to make her!!!

Here she is with her horn and purple hair!

And all done!!

My cousin loved her! YEAH!!!
